Using FogBugz On Demand? We've recently rolled out a new sidebar as part of taking FogBugz forward. Please see this article for details on what's new, what's changed, and where you can find all your favorite things.

To compile notes for your release, do the following:

  1. Search FogBugz for releaseNotes:”*” milestone:”my release name” -status:”active” to get a list of all completed cases in your release that have release notes entered
  2. Export your list:
    • Click on More, then click Export to Excel
      or
    • Use the JSON or XML api’s cmd=search with no q= set to get the current case list for your user. Include “releaseNotes” in your column list, e.g. https://example.fogbugz.com/api.asp?token=MYTOKEN&cmd=search&cols=sTitle,ixBug,sReleaseNotes

For users running a version of FogBugz 8.19.173 or earlier, follow the below instructions to compile your release notes:

  1. Navigate to the Release Notes page:
    • In FogBugz On Demand, navigate to Tools -> Release Notes.
    • In FogBugz For Your Server, navigate to Schedules -> Release Notes.
  2. Select the project and milestone you are releasing.
  3. From Show Cases drop-down, choose “All Cases” or “Cases with work done
  4. Click Show Results
  5. The page will update to show the cases you’ve resolved. This page also enables you to review the release notes and modify them as necessary.
  6. When you’re happy with the release notes, click the HTML button at the bottom to generate an HTML page. It will open in a new tab. You can now save this file and publish it elsewhere.
  7. Optionally, you can generate XML instead and use it to generate your own HTML.
