Is there a self-hosted version of FogBugz with all of the latest features?
Yes, this is known as FogBugz On Site.
What if I have an existing FYS license and maintenance contract?
If you have an existing FogBugz for Your Server Site License or individual licenses, with an up-to-date Maintenance contract, then we’ll apply your outstanding payment towards the new On Site license.
Will FogBugz On Site have plugins?
No, just like the current cloud-hosted version of FogBugz On Demand, it won’t have plugins. Check out a complete list of the differences between For Your Server and On Demand for details.
Will FogBugz On Site Support Kiln?
No, we’re only working on a self-hosted version of FogBugz On Demand. FogBugz On Site does not integrate with existing Kiln for Your Server installations. We recommend that, for those who are able to do so, you switch to using our Kiln On Demand product.
What are the recommended specs for FogBugz On Site?
Please see the FogBugz On Site system requirements.
What is FogBugz On Site?
FogBugz On Site is the name of a new, self-hosted version of FogBugz.
Why is FogBugz On Site a separate product from FogBugz for Your Server?
FogBugz for Your Server was created some time ago and works like a traditional piece of software with a database that powers a website. To deliver the speed and functionality requirements of a modern, single-page web app, we couldn’t just upgrade what we had. We had to create a new product which leverages modern development techniques.
Has For Your Server been End-of-Lifed?
No, we continue to support FogBugz and Kiln for Your Server and release security fixes as necessary.
How much will it cost to switch to On Demand?
Switching from For Your Server to On Demand requires us to migrate your data for you. There’s no migration fee, however, given the amount of effort involved on our side for the migration we do require a 1 year annual pre-payment for the On Demand subscription. The On Demand pricing pages for FogBugz and Kiln show the different plans available that cater for different numbers of users, and allows the choice of extra modules to either reduce cost or add functionality. With an annual payment, you save 10% off the subscription cost. At the end of that 1 year, you can then convert to monthly billing if you want to.
Will FogBugz On Site get automatic updates like On Demand?
No, given that On Site will run on your own servers, updates aren’t automatically applied. They will be carried out around every 6 months in agreement with you, by a member of Fog Creek staff.
Is Maintenance Included for On Site?
Does On Site work on air-gapped servers?
Yes, however, we require a remote connection using standard remote desktop connection software for the initial installation and during any upgrades.
