How do I Configure the Email Notification Frequency?
At the top right of your FogBugz, hover your mouse over or click your avatar, click “Options“, and under Email Notification, you have the following options:
- Instant (Default): This is the default setting for new users. You will get an individual email for each case that is assigned to you, for each edit someone makes on a case or wiki article that you are subscribed to, and for each time someone explicitly chooses to notify you on a case.
- Periodic (Recommended): Reduce the emails you receive from FogBugz. Every 3 hours (maximum number of emails in a day: 8) FogBugz will send you one email that includes a detailed summary of all the notifications you have not yet read. The email content is grouped by the case and wiki article you are being notified about. For example, if a case you are subscribed to has one comment, one email, and is assigned to someone else, then you will see all three events chronologically under that case’s number and title in the email.
- Never: Receive zero emails from FogBugz in your inbox. Only use the list of notifications to catch up on what is happening in FogBugz.
If you would like Instant email notifications and it is already selected, then you don’t need to do anything. Otherwise, select one of the other options as described above, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click OK.
What are Periodic (Digest) Emails?
NOTE: This applies only to FogBugz On Demand.
Control the frequency of email you receive from FogBugz with new Periodic Emails. Previously, FogBugz allowed you to either have email notifications on, or off – and this setting would be ignored by the Notify More Users field (i.e., notifying another user would always send them an email notification, regardless of their email notification setting).
With the addition of Periodic emails, FogBugz can also send you updates via a single email once every three hours. The email contains a complete digest of the notifications you have missed in FogBugz. That is, the summary email will only include notifications that haven’t already been marked as read. This way, if you’ve already seen all of your notifications while working in FogBugz, no summary email will be sent, helping to keep your inbox free of noise.
The digested information in each summary email is grouped by the Case or Wiki Article you are being notified about. For each case or wiki article, the notifications you have missed are ordered by the newest notification going down to the oldest unseen notification.
